An Altagamma winter in Madonna di Campiglio

A paradise for skiing in winter and hiking in summer

What aspects do Madonna di Campiglio and the Costa Smeralda have in common? One has the most fascinating mountain, the other the most exclusive beaches? Both belong to the Altagamma Foundation of which Madonna di Campiglio has been part since 2022, of course, but that’s not all. Connecting the Dolomite peaks which rose from the sea, and the emerald waters with their white beaches, is a mutual passion for high quality tourism and a love for beauty, be it that of the natural landscape or of outstanding hospitality. Madonna di Campiglio is located in western Trentino surrounded, to the east, by the Brenta Dolomites - a World Heritage Site and, to the west, by the glittering Adamello and Presanella glaciers. This concentration of nature and biodiversity is part of the Adamello Brenta Natural Park-Geopark, a protected area rich in flora, fauna, alpine lakes, waterfalls and centuries-old woods. For those who love outdoor sports, Madonna di Campiglio is a paradise for skiing in winter and hiking in summer. Exhilerating, perfectly snow-covered slopes and modern ski lifts, which reach 2500 meters above sea level, descend to the centre of the resort, a short distance from the main hotels.

Madonna di Campiglio

The most famous piste, the Miramonti gully, home of the historic Alpine Skiing World Cup slalom (next event 8 January 2025), lights up at night to continue the thrill of a breathtaking descent under the stars. Madonna di Campiglio is the heart of the largest ski area in Trentino: 156 kilometres of slopes, all connected and designed across the three areas of Madonna di Campiglio, Pinzolo and Folgarida-Marilleva. Much sought after by the nobility and the wealthy Austrian and Central European bourgeoisie, at the end of the nineteenth century it was chosen as a holiday resort by the Habsburgs, Emperor Franz Joseph and Empress Elisabeth of Bavaria, known throughout the world as Sissi. The princely atmosphere returns every year, at Carnival time, with re-enactments of the Habsburg presence in Campiglio. From the aristocratic atmosphere of the past to today’s international sophistication, Madonna di Campiglio’s charm is timeless. The destination boasts the highest concentration of 4-star (31) and 4-star superior (5) hotels in Trentino. There are 3 5-star hotels and on 1st August 2019 the new 5-star luxury “Lefay Resort & SPA Dolomiti” opened its doors, inspired by sustainability and global well-being. 5,000m² of wellness area with indoor and outdoor swimming pools make it one of the biggest spas in the Alps.
