Classical Music Festival Costa Smeralda 2024

From 7 to 13 September, four appointments with classical music

In keeping with tradition, the summer season at Porto Cervo concludes with the Costa Smeralda Classical Music Festival in September. The 2024 edition features four extraordinary concerts.

Orchestra Vivaldi

The opening event takes place on 7 September and stars the Cagliari-born violinist Anna Tifu. She will be accompanied by the Antonio Vivaldi Orchestra of Venice and its exceptional soloists, led by concertmaster Guglielmo De Stasio. Anna Tifu is considered one of the top international violinists of her generation.

The evening of 9 September is dedicated to the Great Performers of Music History. This year’s edition presents the acclaimed Canadian pianist Louis Lortie, with a programme of music by Schubert and Mozart. The concert on 11 September once again focuses on emerging new talent, and features the young Italian pianist Luigi Carroccia, who will perform Beethoven’s Concerto No. 3 for Piano and Orchestra, again accompanied by the Antonio Vivaldi Orchestra. Described by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram as an aristocrat of the piano, Luigi Carroccia has won numerous prizes in national and international competitions.

The fourth and final evening on 13 September is entrusted to Maestro Carlo Torlontano. After many years as 1st horn in the RAI Orchestra and the San Carlo Theatre in Naples, he decided to devote himself to solo activity, touring Europe, Asia, Australia and North America. He has performed in the most important concert halls in Europe and has recently received an exclusive permission from Maestro Arvo Pärt to perform as soloist his composition for Horn of the Alps and orchestra.

Artistic direction is by Maestro Guglielmo De Stasio, joint founder and organiser of the Festival, with the support of the Costa Smeralda Consortium of Porto Cervo. Concerts will take place in the Conference Centre of the Cervo Hotel in Porto Cervo, and all events will start at 21:30.
