Globe Soccer Awards at the Hotel Cala di Volpe

Soccer stars land in Sardinia for first European edition

The PSG forward about to transfer to Real Madrid, Kylian Mbappé; the head coach of Bayer Leverkusen, Xabi Alonso, and the Barcelona phenomenon Lamine Yamal: three of the winners in the first European edition of the KAFD Globe Soccer Awards, which took place at Hotel Cala di Volpe. On the stage and in front of TV cameras of the likes of the Spanish Marca TV, CNN and Sky TV Europe, were Barça striker Robert Lewandowski, three-times winner of the Champions League Fernando Morientes, former England coach Fabio Capello, the current head coach of the Italy national team Luciano Spalletti, and the presidents and CEOs of some of Europe’s most important clubs and associations. But it was the CEO of Atalanta, Luca Percassi, who took the award for best European squad. Following the awards ceremony on Tuesday 28 May, the focus shifted to the Globe Soccer Forum, which took place the next day, hosted by the Italian Lega Serie A. Speakers at the forum included Nasser Al-Khelaifi, president of Paris Saint-Germain; Mikel Arteta, manager of Arsenal, as well as Gabriele Gravina, president of the Italian Football Federation; Quico Catalán, vice-president of the Spanish Liga, and Luigi De Siervo, CEO of Serie A. A prestigious scene, with the leading figures in European football against the magnificent backdrop of the poolside at Hotel Cala di Volpe, broadcast live around the world for the global KAFD Globe Soccer Awards Europe.

The forum was organised by Globe Soccer in collaboration with LaLiga, with Smeralda Holding and Hotel Cala di Volpe as hosting partners, and sponsored by the Municipality of Arzachena. The event concludes a golden May for Hotel Cala di Volpe and Porto Cervo, whose image and position have undoubtedly gained in terms of unique attractiveness thanks to the hard work and synergy between public and private that went into the programming and the event itself. A boost for the resort’s reputation too, thanks to the visibility brought by an international event like the Globe Soccer Awards: Mario Ferraro, CEO of Smeralda Holding, along with Franco Carraro, president of Smeralda Holding, and Roberto Ragnedda, mayor of Arzachena, named Atalanta as best European squad in the latest football season.
