History of the Rally Internazionale Storico Costa Smeralda

Over the years, the Costa Smeralda Rally has been one of the benchmark races in the international rally scene. Strongly desired by Prince Karim Aga Khan and the then president of Aci Sassari Marquis Don Franco di Suni as a vehicle event to promote the destination, charm, beauty, worldliness and glamour were all hallmarks of the event in which organizers, drivers, fans and sponsors recognized the value and importance of the race. It is a heritage of Sardinia as a whole, which has managed to enthuse entire generations to the world of rallying and motorsport. Sixty-five crews in the historic rally, including fifteen crews in the A112 Abarth Trophy, two with the classic cars plus another twenty-four in the regularity rally and, dulcis in fundo another twenty-three in the non-competitive Martini Rally Vintage car rally: these are the numbers of those registered for the eighth edition of the Costa Smeralda International Historic Rally staged in April.

For three days Porto Cervo took a plunge into rallying's past, including through the Gallura Special Stages, where legends of the wheel and iconic cars came together.
