The beach of the new Romazzino, A Belmond Hotel, Costa Smeralda

All the flavor of the place, with a retro-chic allure that harkens back to the 1960s

There is a multitude of fine sandy beaches and no one to walk on them. Green and grey mountains tumble into the sea, a carpet of purple and yellow, red and blue flowers perfume the air.” This is how Sardinia appeared to Prince Aga Khan IV when he docked on its northern coast in 1964. The glittering fruit of this fateful encounter and the iconic architecture of Michele Busiri Vici is the Romazzino, A Belmond Hotel, Costa Smeralda, a symbol of elegant Sardinian beachfront hospitality which, as is the tradition of the Belmond group, preserves all the flavour of the location, with a retro-chic allure that takes you back to those legendary Sixties.

Romazzino, A Belmond Hotel, Costa Smeralda

A white cascade of sinuous curves that winds along a green slope of Mediterranean scrub until it flows into the crystalline sea of a spectacular bay framed by cliffs shaped by the wind and time, a sanctuary created by nature, sheltered from the outside world. This immaculate strip of beach is the setting for the Romazzino beach club, where you can enjoy days of dolce far niente while enjoying the cooling Sardinian waters, perhaps sipping a refreshing cocktail under a beach umbrella, or comfortably seated on the sun loungers around the hotel’s two large swimming pools - one salt water, one freshwater - just a stone’s throw from the beach and surrounded by lush, fragrant vegetation.

Between the wind and the sea, as its Sardinian name ‘Éntu e Mari’ says, there is also a beach grill with a relaxing atmosphere and open kitchen, which joins the La Terrasse restaurant, designed for a fine dining experience. The beach club, swimming pools and Éntu e Mari were among the subjects of the first phase of the extensive restyling project for the Belmond group’s new jewel, which began in 2024 with the external spaces. For the outdoor furnishings, architects Studio Palomba Serfini chose a balanced mixture of local artisans such as Bam Design, Cerasarda, Mariantonia Urru and Walter Usai, and renowned Italian brands like Talenti, Cassina, Molteni and Bonacina. For a style with a contemporary but authentic character.
