The Marina at Porto Cervo is an engineering jewel overlooking the Mediterranean. The Porto Cervo Marina was born in 1962 from an intuition of H.H. Prince Karim Aga Khan IV and a group of international investors, as part of an ambitious project to create a luxury tourist destination in Sardinia. From the Prince's thunderbolt for this stretch of the Gallura coastline, to the decision to create a destination where the charm of the architecture made anyone who visited fall in love with it, the step was not a short one. In the 1960s, the young prince, then 22 years old, fell in love with this coastal area and decided to invest money and time in the discovery of a dream land. He bought 3,000 hectares of uncultivated land and, with the help of architects Luigi Vietti, Jacques Couëlle, Michele and Giancarlo Busiri Vici, Antonio Simon Mossa, Raymond Martin and other international professionals, began to build the emerald village. The entire project, protected by the Costa Smeralda® trademark, also included the construction of villas, hotels, golf courses and other facilities for tourists.

In this context, the Marina of Porto Cervo became one of the most exclusive destinations in the Mediterranean and the world. Today, the Marina di Porto Cervo, owned by Smeralda Holding, an Italian company whose sole shareholder is Qatar Holding Smeralda Investment S.r.l., a company indirectly controlled by Qatar Investment Authority ('QIA'), one of the world's most important sovereign wealth funds, remains one of the world's leading marinas and a luxury destination. A safe harbour for 700 berths, managed by Igy Marinas Llc, which owns and operates prestigious marinas in the world's leading yachting destinations, in complete harmony with the surrounding environment. This is demonstrated by the Seabins installed in the waters of the harbour, a kind of floating litter bin designed to reduce the amount of waste in the sea, a representation of the role of technology in protecting the marine environment. Then there is the prestigious Blue Flag awarded for the special commitment to sustainable port management. The Marina is the marina in the eastern area of the village and operates all year round. It is located in the innermost part of Porto Cervo, in the Villaggio Marina, and is structured in quays, seven radial groynes and a protective quay breakwater. It is fully equipped and in summer the most prestigious yachts and yachting yachts in the Mediterranean can be admired there.
